There are again serious rumors and indications that at least some F1 teams are guilty of using flexible wings. However, this is not allowed according to the F1 regulations and that is why it wants to take extra measures.
Flexible front wings and/or rear wings, it is something that has occupied Formula 1 for years. The FIA has already tightened the rules and according to some, those tightening have contributed to Aston Martin’s relapse after a very strong start. However, several teams would use ‘flexible wings’.
The FIA would now like to remind the teams with a so-called ‘technical directive’ that ‘flexible wings’ are not allowed and the guidelines and controls would be further tightened, reports ‘Motorsport.com’.
The teams will now have to provide assembly drawings and cross-sections of their wings and elements to the FIA so that they can prove that they comply with the applicable rules. This includes various elements of the nose, front wing and rear wing that must be supplied.
The new technical guideline would apply from the GP of Singapore and would therefore also be checked additionally.
