According to Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, Red Bull’s competitors will have to chase until the major regulation change of 2026. According to Leclerc, there is a good chance that Red Bull will continue to dominate for the next two seasons.
Red Bull has managed to win all the races so far this season and it doesn’t look good for the competition according to Charles Leclerc. When the Ferrari driver was asked in Zandvoort about the chances of keeping up with Red Bull next year, he was not really optimistic.
“We are trying to achieve that, certainly, they have a big lead,” Leclerc told Zandvoort on Thursday. “It’s going to be very, very difficult to overtake them before the rule changes.
With this, Leclerc refers to the new rules regarding the engine and chassis that Formula 1 will introduce in 2026. According to Leclerc, Red Bull will have a very big advantage in terms of race speed until then.
“It’s different from the past in that we’re much closer in qualifying,” said Leclerc. “Normally when we see a team dominate it is in both qualifying and the race. But now, for whatever reason with Red Bull, it’s much more during the race than during qualifying.”
“The differences are much bigger in the race than in qualifying. That’s why we’re trying to work on race speed, because Red Bull has such a big lead.”
“We still have a lot of work to do. We have some developments in the coming races that can take us a step forward.”
“But also with this car we have some unpleasant surprises because these cars are so sensitive that a small change can have a very big impact. Hopefully that will be the case with us as well.”
