At Mercedes, after a very difficult start to the season, they had to adjust their goals for this season. According to technical director James Allison, finishing second in the constructors’ championship is the goal.

“We started the season with great expectations,” James Allison reflects on the season so far. “We had to get used to our position, especially in relation to the very front of the field, but the response from the team was admirable.”

“We found out fairly quickly what was wrong and gradually we rectified the situation.”

“At the beginning of the year we were fourth fastest, we were beaten by a customer team, which was frustrating. Ferrari also beat us.”

“Gradually we managed to keep them behind us. Everyone did their part, from the strategy to engineering, reliability, building the car, the drivers taking half chances to get a lot of points.”

“Even if it doesn’t meet our initial target, second place is really important to us. Especially during the second half of the season when our focus will shift to the W15.”
