On July 23, the trophy that Max Verstappen received after his victory at the GP of Hungary was lost. Herendi Porceln, the Hungarian company that made the trophy, said they would immediately start making a new trophy and has now also provided an update on the new trophy.

Lando Norris knocked his ‘champagne bottle’ a little too hard against the podium, causing Max Verstappen’s trophy to fall to the ground and die. ‘Shards bring good luck’, but nevertheless immediately started making a new trophy. Lando Norris was a bit giggly about it at first, but he then apologized to Verstappen.

Herendi Porceln, the Hungarian company that made the €40,000 trophy, said it would immediately start making a new trophy. According to Herendi Porceln, the original trophy took about six months to make and about thirty people were involved. However, the new trophy will be ready much faster because, among other things, the design, patterns and colors do not have to be edited again.

Simon Attila, the CEO of Herendi Porceln, told ‘Formula.hu’ that Max Verstappen will not have to wait long for his new trophy: “We started production at the beginning of August. The painting and gilding work is currently in progress. We will be ready by the end of September at the latest.”

Attila reaffirmed that the trophy replacement will be free of charge.

“We would like to thank all the F1 fans for their positive response. This confirms that we made the right decision to replace the trophy. As we promised, the broken trophy will be replaced free of charge and we look forward to handing it over to Max Verstappen.”

The CEO also invited everyone to visit the Herendi Porceln visitor center: “Everyone is welcome to come and experience and admire the extremely high level of craftsmanship while we are creating this porcelain trophy in our visitor center.”
