Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) enters the final day of Rally Finland with a gap of more than 30 seconds on Elfyn Evans (Toyota). The Briton again won three chrono tests on Saturday afternoon and thus strengthened his leading position in this ninth World Cup round.
Evans was the best in all four special stages on Saturday morning and continued that line in the afternoon. Neuville ended up in second place each time. Only Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) was able to break Evans’ hegemony in the final race of the day.
In the standings Neuville follows after eighteen KPs at 32.1 seconds from Evans. Katsuta is third at 1:27.8.
The rally ends on Sunday with the last four stages including the Power Stage. The Finnish world champion and World Cup leader Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) had to retire on Friday after a crash.
