Lewis Hamilton still has no contract with Mercedes. Even though Hamilton and Mercedes seem to continue together, Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur also leaves the door ajar for Hamilton.
Hamilton has often been linked to a possible switch to Ferrari in the past, but really concrete talks never really seem to have been held. Current team boss Frederic Vasseur says he will talk to Lewis Hamilton after all, although he is also satisfied with his current driver duo.
“I will talk to him every grand prix,” Vasseur told Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport. “However, I don’t want to compare him to our drivers, it makes no sense. But a contribution from such a top driver, not only in terms of driving the car, but also technically and strategically and the help for the engineers.”
“When you have a driver like Hamilton, Verstappen or Leclerc, it makes everything easier.”
For the time being, however, it does not immediately look like Hamilton will drive for Ferrari in the short term. But of course never say never.
