It could be: the Volkswagen Touareg, the largest SUV from Volkswagen that left the Netherlands with a silent drum in 2020, returns. And this time too, the Volkswagen Touareg has a big V6, but adapted to the current zeitgeist.
Volkswagen is becoming fully electric in Europe, but it is not there yet. The new Volkswagen Touareg, actually a facelifted version of the current model that was only available in the Netherlands for a short time, is making a comeback in our country in two guises:
- Volkswagen Touareg eHybrid Elegance met 381 pk
- Volkswagen Touareg R eHybrid met 462 pk
In both cases, the new Volkswagen Touareg is a large plug-in hybrid SUV, equipped with a three-liter V6 petrol engine and an electric motor. We can write the 340 hp strong V6 without electrical support in the Netherlands, as well as the two turbo diesels that are for sale elsewhere in Europe.

Volkswagen Touareg (2023) prices
The last Volkswagen Touareg was not available in the Netherlands as a plug-in hybrid, which made it very expensive. But now there is every reason to return the Volkswagen Touareg. As a plug-in hybrid, the theoretical CO2 emissions are much lower and so is the price in the Netherlands. Volkswagen will also announce the final prices.

Much more accessible
In Germany, the new Volkswagen Touareg costs at least 69,200 euros. With us you had to bring at least 80,000 euros for the pre-facelift model if you wanted to leave the Volkswagen dealer with a Touareg 3.0 TDI under your arm. For a petrol version you were soon even on a ton. Now you immediately understand why the SUV in our country had to clear the field. Thanks to the plug-in hybrid technology, the new Volkswagen Touareg will become a lot more accessible.
Permanent four-wheel drive
Whichever Volkswagen Touareg you choose, you always get an 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive (4Motion). The SUV is standard on 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels, but those who want can also get 21 or even 22-inch wheels. The new Volkswagen Touareg is the first Volkswagen with Matrix HD headlights.
Striking, and even more striking
The SUV is equipped with a continuous LED lighting strip at both the front and rear. On the back is an illuminated Volkswagen logo. Striking, but even more striking is that the model name is not even spelled out on the boot lid, as you often see now. You won’t hear us complain.
Apple Carplay en Android Auto
In the interior of the new Volkswagen Touareg you will find the so-called Innovision Cockpit. Immediately forget that name, what you get are a digital instrument panel of 30.5 cm and an infotainment display of no less than 38.1 cm. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are standard. Because the USB-C ports have a charging capacity of 45 Watts (previously 15W), smartphones and other devices can be charged even faster, according to Volkswagen.
Volkswagen Touareg (2023) delivery time
The new Volkswagen Touareg will return to the Netherlands in mid-December 2023. As mentioned, the prices are not yet known. The same applies to the further specifications of the plug-in hybrid powertrain. What is known is a draw weight of 3500 kg.
