In the run-up to the Australian GP, the FIA has once again warned teams that climbing the pit wall fence is strictly prohibited.
It has actually been banned for years, but in the so-called ‘Race Director’s Event Notes’ that are distributed to the teams in the run-up to each race weekend, the ban on climbing the pit wall fences is once again emphasized. In the past, such memorandums mentioned points that will be subject to additional checks. This time the extra note would be a result of the Red Bull team members going too far when Sergio Perez won the race in Saudi Arabia.
So it looks like we won’t see the above image of team members crawling into the pit wall fences to celebrate a win after the Australian GP. After all, the FIA has announced that extra checks will be carried out and that severe penalties will be handed out if necessary. Any infringement will in all probability lead to a hefty fine.
