Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff recently said he wouldn’t be surprised if Lewis Hamilton left Mercedes if they couldn’t give him a competitive car in the future. When asked for a response, Hamilton says “that he is not a quitter”.
According to Toto Wolff, Mercedes must ensure that it can provide Hamilton with a competitive car, especially given that Hamilton’s current contract expires at the end of this year and negotiations on a possible contract extension are still in full swing. Hamilton may leave Mercedes in the absence of a competitive car, according to Toto Wolff. However, Hamilton denies that he wants to leave Mercedes.
“I don’t focus on that,” Hamilton replied when presented with Toto Wolff’s comments. “I like this team. I am so grateful to everyone who has been on this journey with me over the past few years. I don’t see myself going to another team. I don’t see myself giving up. I am not one to give up.”
