Barely two races into the season, Mercedes seems to have thrown in the towel. According to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, Red Bull has the most dominant F1 car he has ever seen with the RB19.
Hamilton and Mercedes themselves dominated Formula 1 for many years, but Hamilton is particularly impressed by the Red Bull RB19, especially after Max Verstappen’s impressive catch-up race from 15th on the grid to P2 at the finish. Hamilton was also passed by Verstappen and, according to Verstappen, the Dutchman did so in a very easy way and at an impressive speed.
“I’ve certainly never seen such a fast car,” said Hamilton. “When we were fast, we weren’t that fast. I think it’s the fastest car I’ve ever seen, especially compared to the other cars.”
“I don’t know why or why but he passed me at some serious speed. I didn’t even care if I could block him, there was an incredible difference in speed.”
