Fernando Alonso will soon be allowed to start the GP of Saudi Arabia from the front row. Alonso does not believe he will be able to fight for victory with pole sitter Sergio Perez. In fact, he simply assumes that Verstappen will drive from P15 to the podium, who knows, even win.
Of course Alonso is very happy that he can start the race from P2. But instead of fighting for the win with Perez, Alonso will also look backwards (Fernando Alonso: Starting on the front row is nice, but we won’t be able to fight for the win with Sergio Perez). Fighting with the cars behind him and he will also watch out for Max Verstappen who is charging from the rear.
“I think Max will eventually get involved at the front,” Alonso said ahead of the race. “They have such a big advantage over the rest. I don’t know what race it was last year where he started last because he had to change bikes and ended up finishing second or even winning the race. I think there is no doubt here that he will be on the podium, at least.”
