F1 driver Lewis Hamilton (38) has said goodbye to his regular physiotherapist and assistant Angela Cullen. The Mercedes driver announced this on Friday in the run-up to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“Angela has been by my side for seven years, constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself. Because of her I have become a stronger athlete and a better person. Angela is now going to chase other dreams,” Hamilton begins his message.
Cullen entered Formula 1 in 2016, succeeding Hamilton’s Finnish mentor Aki Hintsa, who died that year. The New Zealander rarely missed a race. “I am so grateful and blessed for this incredible time in motorsport,” said 48-year-old Cullen, who also has a past as a professional athlete. Between the ages of 15 and 21 she was active as a hockey international.
Cullen sees it as a privilege to work with Hamilton, with whom she won four of his seven world titles. “Lewis, you are the best ever. It was an honor and a pleasure for me. I am so proud of you and all you have achieved.”
Next adventure
Cullen is now “on his way to the next adventure,” she says. Although she doesn’t say exactly what she’s going to do. “Anyway thanks for everything, The”, concludes Hamilton. “I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.”
In the past, Cullen worked for the British Athletics Federation. She coached, among other things, the 4×100 meter relay team, which took gold during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has hinted that Hamilton was ready for a change and that it was his decision not to continue with Cullen, who was still there during the test days and opening race in Bahrain.
