Last year, Sergio Perez saw victory slip from his hands at the Saudi Arabian GP because the safety car came onto the track at a very unfortunate moment. This year, the Mexican wants revenge and victory.
“We have to try to keep Bahrain’s momentum,” said Perez. “There are definitely a lot of improvements we can do to try and make our car better. We have a lot of information from the first race and we have also done a lot of work behind the scenes.”
After a very dominant double victory for Red Bull in the first race of the season in Bahrain, it will be interesting to see whether Red Bull will also dominate the race on a completely different track. At the same time, Perez hopes to be able to triumph in Saudi Arabia itself, after missing out on victory last year. Also for his chances in the title fight, Perez can best achieve a victory as soon as possible.
“It will be interesting to see how everyone performs this week in Jeddah, it’s a very different track from Bahrain,” Perez said ahead of the race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
“After my pole position in 2022, I am looking forward to returning to this circuit. I was very unlucky last year with the timing of the safety car while leading the race, hopefully it’s my turn to win this time.”
