There are plans again to host an F1 race in central London. According to The Times, work is underway on a circuit at the Royal Docks in the eastern part of the city.
The plans for a London Grand Prix are not new, every year there is a rumor for an F1 race in the capital of the United Kingdom. But according to The Times, things are currently moving forward and about 280 million euros would be made available for a 5.9 kilometer circuit at the Royal Docks in East London.
The circuit would be similar to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and London Mayor Sadiq Khan would lend his support to the project. There is talk of infrastructure that could accommodate 92,000 fans, including grandstands that float on water.
The LDN Collective project, which describes itself as a network of environmental experts and creatives fighting for a better life for people and a better future for the planet, recognizes that the project is still in its infancy. But the boss, Max Farrell, believes in a happy ending.
Once we have planning permission in our favor, we can get this done within 24 months, Farrell told The Times.
So I think the best case scenario would be a GP of London in 2026. If everyone is behind it, it should be possible.
