The Dutchman Nyck de Vries is very much looking forward to his first full season in Formula 1. After a particularly long wait, Nyck de Vries can “live his dream” thanks to a strong substitute last year in Monza.
In 2019, Nyck de Vries was crowned Formula 2 champion, but the Dutchman was unable to get a race seat in Formula 1. Two years later, Nyck de Vries also won the Formula E championship, but slowly he seemed to have to put his F1 dream away.
Until last year Nyck de Vries unexpectedly had to fill in for the sick Alex Albon. De Vries seized that opportunity with both hands and now also owes his race seat at AlphaTauri to it. For Nyck de Vries, a dream will come true this year.
“To get the chance to live my dream, but at the same time I am also very excited and motivated to perform,” replied Nyck de Vries to what he is most looking forward to this year.
“I think it’s partly because my road to Formula 1 was quite unusual and took longer. As a result, I am even more grateful for this opportunity, even more motivated to seize this opportunity and hungrier than ever to show that I am worthy of this.”
