AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries can once again fully focus on the preparation for his first full F1 season. He won a lawsuit against him regarding the financing of his career.

It was the Dutch real estate millionaire Jeroen Schothorst who had started a lawsuit against Nyck de Vries about money he had given Nyck de Vries F1 pilot). According to Schothorst, Nyck de Vries was indeed an F1 driver due to his substitution during the GP of Italy 2022. As a result, Schothorst would be entitled to many sums of money that Nyck de Vries will now earn during his career.

In preliminary relief proceedings, Schothorst and his investment company Investrand demanded that Nyck de Vries release his accounts because he suspected that information was being withheld. However, the preliminary relief judge has ruled in favor of Nyck de Vries and says that he believes it is unlikely that information will be withheld and that De Vries would have fulfilled his payment obligations.

Investment company Investrand will have to pay the costs of the proceedings, but Schothorst has already stated that a ‘proceedings on the merits’ will be started. The court on the merits will have to judge whether Nyck de Vries actually has to pay nothing to Schothorst. Nyck de Vries especially hopes that he can now focus on the new F1 season in peace.

“I have fulfilled all my obligations to Investrand under the loan agreement and have always provided him with all information to which he was entitled under the loan agreement,” De Vries says in a reaction to ‘De Telegraaf’.

“The fact that the judge ruled in my favor was therefore in line with my expectations. Hopefully the wind will die down now and I can focus on preparing for the Formula 1 season.”
