The F1 car with which Michael Schumacher made his debut in Formula 1 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 1991 will go under the hammer for the second time in two years on February 2nd.
The Jordan 191 is usually regarded by connoisseurs as one of the most beautiful F1 cars of all time and the history attached to this particular copy makes it even more special.
It is about chassis 191/6, the car with which Michael Schumacher made his debut in Formula 1 in 1991 during the Belgian GP.
It has only been since the month of June of 2021 that the F1 car changed hands, then for the amount of around 1.4 million euros. A few months after the auction, Mick Schumacher, son of Michael Schumacher, gave an F1 demo at Silverstone circuit and drove the car for a few laps.
But now the current owner is already saying goodbye to the Jordan 191 and the auction house Bonhams estimates that it will fetch between 1.4 and 1.6 million euros.
Schumacher’s race was soon over in Spa in 1991. After a few hundred meters he had to deal with a faulty clutch. Teammate Andrea de Cesaris initially fared better and for a moment it seemed that Jordan could dream of a stunt when the Italian was behind Ayrton Senna in second position. But three laps before the end it was also the end of the race for de Cesaris due to technical problems.
Fun fact is that the Jordan 191 was voted the most beautiful F1 car of all time by the ‘Daily Telegraph’.
