Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris Rally1) remains in the lead in the Rally of Catalonia. The Frenchman has a 9.7 second lead over first pursuer and teammate Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota Yaris Rally1). Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 N Rally1) is third at 14.2 seconds. Saturday morning’s third stage was canceled after a heavy crash of Gus Greensmith (Ford Puma Rally1).

Neuville got off to a great start on the second day of competition. The Belgian set the fastest time, 0.9 seconds faster than Ogier and 1.5 seconds faster than Rovanperä. In the second stage of the day Ogier set the fastest time. The Frenchman, in turn, was 2.6 seconds faster than Neuville and 4.3 seconds faster than Rovanperä. In the stand, Ogier walks a little further away from his pursuers. Neuville then approaches Rovanperä again.
“It was a good ride for us,” said Neuville at the finish. “We still have some work to do on the car. Whenever the road gets dirty, I don’t feel well with the car and I don’t know its limits. We can go faster and better, provided we find a better setup.”
The third stage of the day was canceled after Gus Greensmith dove into the guardrails in a fast section. Pilot and co-pilot emerged unscathed from the wreckage. Because the road was strewn with debris and it was therefore impossible to resume the race quickly, the third stage was cancelled. The drivers drove via an alternative route to the assistance zone in Salou.
In WRC2, Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) are still tenth. In the WRC2 Junior, the duo is fifth.
On Saturday afternoon, the same three rides will be driven as this morning. The second day of competition ends tonight with a short classification stage in the center of Salou. The Rally of Spain ends on Sunday afternoon.
