After a disappointing qualifying due to a DRS problem, Lewis Hamilton managed to move from seventh to second place during the race. Hamilton was of course happy but without the DRS problem during qualifying he says he would have been in contention for the win.
“Great job guys, what a result for the team,” Hamilton said over the onboard radio after the race. “I am so happy for all of you and so grateful to all of you. Without the DRS problem I would have had the speed for the win.”
Also a bit later during the interviews in the parc ferm, Hamilton came back to the problem he encountered during qualifying on Saturday.
“With a slightly better qualifying, if my DRS had worked, I would have been in contention for the win,” said Hamilton. “But two second places in a row I’m very, very happy with that.”
