The Ypres Rally, which was held in mid-August this year, will be on the calendar again next season at its traditional moment at the end of June. The 2022 edition, the sixth round of the Belgian rally championship, will take place from 23 to 25 June. The organizers announced this on Thursday.

This year’s Ypres Rally took place in August and was included in the WRC. It thus became the first event of the World Rally Championship in Belgium. The rally was also the second round of the Belgian championship, which started four months late due to the health crisis. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) won the WRC race, while Pieter-Jan Michiel Cracco (Skoda) won the BRC rally.

“We had the ambition to be part of the FIA European Rally Championship. We negotiated a long time with the WRC Promoter for a suitable date, but the calendar was already partly fixed and of course we also had to take the WRC calendar into account. We couldn’t find a date that suited the WRC Promoter as well as the City of Ypres and Club Superstage. We also didn’t want to give up our fixed date just like that. Hence our decision to organize the Ypres Rally from 23 to 25 June 2022,” said chairman Alain Penasse.
