Anyway, Suzuki generally doesn’t like design. Although we dare to refer to the Ignis and in particular the Jimny as design classics. The S-Cross looks a bit interchangeable, like a Japanese SUV from ten years ago, with a dime-a-dozen rear and a nose that would also fit another brand (we’re thinking Chevrolet, in this case).
New Suzuki S-Cross sits between Vitara and Across
The Suzuki S-Cross occupies a place in the delivery program between the Vitara and the Across. It comes on the market with a 1.4-litre turbo engine with 129 hp, which is assisted by a 13.6 hp electric motor. The S-Cross is a mild hybrid. It stores braking energy as electricity in a battery and uses it to assist the fuel engine during acceleration. The Suzuki gets front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox as standard. Optional are 4WD and an automatic transmission.
Standard with adaptive cruise control and LED lights
The boot of the S-Cross can hold up to 1,230 liters of gear (with the bench folded down). Suzuki supplies its latest model as Comfort, Select and Style. Standard you get adaptive cruise control, an infotainment system with a 7-inch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED lighting and a whole range of safety systems.
Current S-Cross for sale from 25,232 euros
The S-Cross will be available at Dutch Suzuki dealers from December 17. It is not yet known what it will cost, but the current model is for sale from 25,232 euros. That is a few hundred euros more than Suzuki asks for the Vitara. The large Across – in fact a Toyota RAV4 with hybrid drive – costs a lot more: at least 55,900 euros.
