Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) secured the world title in the MotoGP class on Sunday during the Emilia-Romagna Motorsport Grand Prix at the Italian Misano circuit.

The 22-year-old Quartararo finished in fourth place and that proved to be enough to win the world title after his title competitor Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) had to retire after a crash. The victory in Misano went to six-time world champion Marc Marquez.

For France, it is the first world title ever in the premier class of motorsport.
