The only 14-year-old Spanish motorcyclist Hugo Millán died on Sunday during the European Talent Cup at the Circuit Motorland Aragon in Spain. It is the second fatal accident in motorsport in a short time, because just two months ago, 19-year-old Jason Dupasquier also died after a terrible crash.
The Spaniard, who was considered a great talent, crashed into a big group 13 laps from the end with his Honda NSF 250R. When he tried to leave the track, Pole Oleg Pawelec was unable to avoid him and drove full force over Millán. He lay motionless and was flown by helicopter to hospital in Zaragoza, where doctors were unable to save him. The race and the remaining competitions were subsequently cancelled.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Hugo Millán has left us. We will always remember your smile, your big heart and your professionalism. Rest in peace, Hugo”, was the message from his team Cuna de Campeones. Millán was second in the general classification of the European Talent Cup.
On May 30, Jason Dupasquier, another motorsport talent, passed away. The 19-year-old Swiss suffered a serious head injury after a fall in Moto3 qualifying in Mugello, injuries from which he later died.
