Although the rules about corona will be relaxed, you can still use it in May 2021 maximum 2 people in the car. You can to get a fine if you are in the car with more than 2 people. Children up to and including 12 years of age do not count in the numbers.
If you are traveling with someone who does not live at the same address, then both wear a face mask.
You are allowed to sit in the car with 3, 4 or 5 people if you live together at the same address.
The next step: at the moment there is still a maximum of 2 people together on the street. As soon as this rule disappears, you will probably be allowed to drive with more people again.

Extended lockdown from January 12, 2021 (update March 30)

Flexible corona rules from July 1, 2020
From 1 July, several people may travel together in a car. Even if they come from different households. The advice is to wear a mouth mask, but that is not mandatory.
In short, you can get back into the car with everyone else. The period when you could be fined for sitting in a car with too many people is over.

Old corona rules until July 1, 2020
According to police.nl, the basic agreement is that we always keep 1.5 meters away if we do not belong to one household (ie a family or roommates). So it is very unwise to sit in one car with a friend, neighbor or colleague. Because you are so close together, you run a greater chance of getting the corona virus and spreading it. That said you can no fine get for it.
You can a fine if you are together with 3 or more people and do not keep enough distance. And that also applies if you are in a car with 3 or more people. The police will first address and warn you. If you don’t listen, you will be fined. For 13 to 17 year olds it is 95 euros and for 18 years and older it is 390 euros.
