Formula 1 has readjusted the calendar for the F1 season 2021. Barely two weeks after Formula 1 announced that the GP of Canada would not continue and was replaced by a race in Turkey, that last race has now been killed. Even so, there will still be 23 races on the F1 2021 calendar.
After the F1 calendar had to be completely redesigned last year, the coronavirus COVID-19 will continue to have a serious influence on the course of the F1 season this year. The current calendar has already been adjusted and just over two weeks later Formula 1 intervenes again.
Turkey, which would normally replace the Canadian GP, is now itself disappearing from the F1 calendar again. At the same time, it was decided to postpone the French GP for a week and to organize two races at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. In this way, a record 23 races remain on the F1 calendar 2021.
“We were looking forward to racing in Turkey, but travel restrictions are making it impossible to race there in June,” Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1 CEO, said in a statement.
“Formula 1 has once again shown that it can respond quickly to developments that arise and find solutions quickly. We are happy to have a double header in Austria so that 23 races remain on the calendar. ”
