Bertrand Baguette (Honda) on Tuesday won the 500 km of Fuji, the second round in the Japanese SuperGT championship.
Baguette and his Japanese teammate Koudai Tsukakoshi did not get past eleventh in qualifying, but after a neutralization of the race, they managed to take the lead. In the 69th of 110 laps, Baguette passed the wheel to Tsukakoshi. He then dropped to third place, but became leader again after the abandonment of the Honda in second position and a penalty for the leading Honda.
In an exciting final phase, Tsukakoshi managed to keep the Honda off his compatriots Kenta Yamashita and Kazuya Oshima.
After finishing fifth in the opening heat, Tsukakoshi and Baguette climb to second place in the standings thanks to this victory with 26 points, nine less than Yamashita and Oshima.
On May 30, the championship continues in Suzuka.
