Study models, the big car fair in Shanghai is full of them. Partly of a lot of brands that we do not know, but also the deadly successor of the Audi A6 is there. At the Ford stand we will be surprised by the electric Ford Evos. The name is known from a futuristic concept coupe with gull-wing doors from 2011, but the design does not seem like it.
Ford Evos with a touch of Citroën C5 X
What this Evos strongly reminds us of is the recently presented Citroën C5 X. Just like that new Frenchman, the Ford study model looks like a cross between a sedan, a coupe, a station wagon and an SUV. What you call the ultimate crossover. Or is it an indefinable variety of ashtrays?
In any case, the car looks very production-ready and certainly not typically Eastern. Still, Ford claims the Evos was primarily developed for the Chinese market. But we think that the brand can also use an extra electric car for the European market. In addition, Ford recently claimed that it only wants to offer electric cars in Europe from 2030.
Sure, you can now buy the Ford Mustang Mach-E here. But the question is whether that electric SUV (from around 50,000 euros) is enough to bring Ford’s average CO2 emissions down enough to meet the prescribed average of 95 g / km. The Ford Evos is slightly more compact and may succeed in winning a few more customers.
Focus vault model
Ford has not yet released anything about the technical specifications of the Evos, but it seems logical that they partly correspond with those of the cheaper versions of the Mustang Mach-E. Should Ford indeed bring the Evos to Europe, we expect prices at which the Evos can compete with cars such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Mercedes EQA. While the Ford seems a bit bigger to us. In addition, with the Evos, Ford would get another interesting model above the Focus, now that the Mondeo has left us.
Beautiful interior in the Evos
If the Evos does indeed come here, we hope that Ford will largely keep the interior of the study model, because that looks very appetizing. Fortunately, the dashboard has such a hideously large, i-Pad-like device centrally on the dashboard like the mach-E and Teslas, but a beautifully integrated super widescreen display. In addition, the copper-colored accents give the interior a warm appearance. Bring it on!
