Max Verstappen: “Lewis Hamilton is one of the very best F1 drivers ever”

If we are allowed to continue on the first race of the season, it seems that Red Bull has managed to get its act together from the start of the season this year. The Bahrain GP has already provided a nice show for the fans and perhaps this will be the year that Lewis Hamilton gets a serious chore on someone who does not race in the same team.

But above all, we must not get ahead of the facts and we cannot ignore the fact that Lewis Hamilton, although there has been some criticism that he owes all this to his car, is one of the greats in the sport. His biggest rival Max Verstappen also thinks this in a conversation with ‘Autosport.’

“The way he has handled all seasons, always coming back, to be honored and to win that number of races and championships. You absolutely cannot ignore Lewis ”, said Verstappen.

“But of course there are a lot of other drivers in Formula 1 who I think are also very good, very strong, and who would have been really good in that car too.”

“But still, of course, the way Lewis has won and also sometimes in tough races, like last year in Turkey, to win that race, I think he did very well.”

“Yes, he is certainly one of the best drivers ever in Formula 1.”

In recent seasons Max Verstappen has fought several fights with Lewis Hamilton and has had plenty of opportunities to steal with his eyes but he has never felt the need to start copying him.

“I don’t look at it that way, I first look at what I could have done better or differently after each race.”

“I do look at other people and look at things, but I am not someone who copies. I am myself.”

“Because if you copy things from others, you are always lagging behind in the first place, because you don’t innovate and therefore you don’t get better than them.”

“Of course you can just look at it, you can observe it. But in the end I am myself and I think that works best for me to be myself. ”
