The Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) won the Grand Prix of Doha in Lusail on Sunday. In the second moto of the MotoGP World Championship, he was ahead of his fellow countryman Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac). Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), who started on pole, finished third. Martin’s compatriot Maverick Vinales (Yamaha), who won the Grand Prix of Qatar on the same circuit last week, now had to settle for fifth place.
The 30-year-old Zarco takes the lead in the championship after two second places. With 40 points, he is four points ahead of Vinales and Quartararo, fifth in the opening heat.
The next heat will be held in Portimao (Algarve) in Portugal in two weeks.
