It’s hard to see because of the camouflage, but the next-generation Kia Niro appears to be slightly larger, with a more ‘upright’ design. A bit like the Kia e-Soul. The placement of the headlights is also striking. They are placed a lot lower in the front than with current Kia’s. Almost as if there are still separate daytime running lights above, as with the just unveiled Hyundai Bayon. The rear of the new Kia Niro shows that its designers took inspiration from the 2019 Kia Habaniro Concept. The taillights seem to match.
Kia Niro Hybrid and Kia e-Niro engine behind success
Kia will present the second-generation Niro in the middle of this year and will launch it in 2022. Just like the current Niro, the new one is available in three versions: as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric car. According to Kia Netherlands, the Niro Plug-in Hybrid is hardly popular in our country. It is the Kia Niro Hybrid and e-Niro that both account for about half of the sales. In 2020, Kia sold 11,880 units of the Niro. And with that, the Korean suv was ahead of the Volkswagen ID.3 (10.954).
