Strange actually, that just such an environmentally friendly brand as Volvo will not reveal its first fully electric model until 2021. There will be no petrol version of the electric Volvo C40, nor will it be a plug-in hybrid. It has the same 78 kWh battery pack as the Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge. The super strong powertrain consists of two electric motors, which provide an output of 408 hp and a torque of 660 Nm. The performance of the C40 will probably differ little from that of the electric XC40. It does the sprint from 0-100 km / h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top of 180 km / h.
Volvo C40: range
Volvo promises that the C40 has a range of 420 kilometers. Although the battery capacity of 78 kWh is exactly the same as that of the Polestar 2, the range of the Volvo C40 Recharge is smaller. It reaches 420 kilometers on one battery charge, the Polestar 2 with the same battery pack has a range of 470 kilometers.
The driving range of the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 is also 420 kilometers. Only when you measure the range of the electric Volvo XC40 at 100 km / h and 130 km / h in practice, disappointingly little remains. The strong electric motor consumes an above-average amount of electricity. At 100 km / h, the Volvo XC40 Recharge has a range of 326 kilometers. The 130 km / h range is 300 kilometers. Hopefully Volvo will improve its life with the Volvo C40 Recharge. There is still homework to do …
Can only be ordered online
The electric Volvo C40 will be launched in the autumn of 2021. But you cannot view it at the dealer. The Volvo C40 (like the Polestar 2) deviates from the existing process of buying a car, where a salesperson gives you vending machine coffee, briefly kicks the tires on a new car and says his mother-in-law has such a model too .
If you want a Volvo C40, you no longer have to leave the house and you can order it online and it will be delivered to your door. Volvo promises that the delivery time is short and that the price list is transparent. No complicated option packages or price lists spanning dozens of pages, all electric Volvo’s of the future can only be bought online.
Together with Google
The Volvo C40 is also like the Polestar 2 in other parts: the infotainment system was developed together with Google and so the C40 has Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Play Store for apps. As with the Polestar 2, no more cows are sacrificed for the leather upholstery. It’s all eco-friendly and synthetic.
Volvo C40: price
Volvo has previously announced that every Volvo will be electric by 2030. By 2025, half of all Volvo’s sold will already have to be fully electric
